Just look at that response over something we take completely for granted now just 14 years later.

Love the camera man over-the-shoulder as the way to show it on the big screen.

And the hula hoop — look ma, no wires! — is just a brilliant, Steve Jobs touch.

I remember the feeling of utter amazement the first time I took my laptop out onto the porch and had internet. It was astonishing.

I was in the audience at this keynote and remember it fondly. It was Steve Jobs at his very best. At the end, he revealed that Apple employees with AirPort-equipped iBooks were sitting throughout the audience so we could see the new laptops up close. One of them stood up two seats down from me and pulled an iBook out from under her chair. It all felt like magic!

I just saw a screening of the comedy group Olde English’s film The Exquisite Corpse Project. I loved it, and I really recommend watching it for $5 on Splitsider. (And not just because I like the people involved, especially my friend and fellow CH tomfooler Adam Conover).

It takes a clever hook (the members of a comedy group each write 15 pages of a feature film, only privy to the previous writer’s last 5 pages, and the movie intercuts between the resulting hodgepodge film and interviews with the writers), and spins it into a hilarious, touching look at the trials and tribulations of friendship, creativity and collaboration. It’s funny on a ton of levels, from immediate to super-meta.

But more than that, it perfectly and genuinely explores the process of working creatively with friends when you’re young and your intense passion is rivaled only by your relative inexperience. It made me nostalgic for the years I spent in my college improv group, bonding with best friends and engaging in hyper-opinionated disagreements without a clear leader or direction, but with boundless enthusiasm.

It’s a real feat of creative editing, charming and engaging. You’ll love it, especially if you’ve ever made stuff with friends. Congrats to everyone involved, and everyone else, do yourself a favor and check it out.
